So I recently purchased this bundle because I was looking for a replacement for my duty belt. Being a member of my department’s Special Response team I wanted something that was good quality that I could use as both a patrol belt and as a SRT belt because the HSGI operator belt was kind kind of floppy for my liking. A buddy recommended GBRS’s belt to me and I’m glad he did, they did not disappoint.
Belt system:
- Fit true to size
- great balance of rigidity and flexibility (flexible enough to be very comfortable but rigid enough to support a significant amount of gear and not flop around)
- sturdy Molle/ Pals system. Straps don’t stretch out or become loose. Even when wet or scuffled with.
- inner belt was rigid enough to be a standalone concealed carry belt which I love. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is, while I understand the loop being on the outer belt the hook on the inner belt actually damages the loops on my patrol pants which means I’ll have to replace them sooner. Also when wearing in reverse the hook occasionally scratches and chafes me and I’m not a fluffy individual. I wish there was a traditional option as well.
- cobra buckle is nice and beefy. Some would complain about how tight the adjustment is with the friction adapter but I love it that thing has been beat up and pulled on and it has yet to loosen. That’s exactly what I want.
True north concepts MHA:
- rigid set up nice for a stable platform for the holster
- easy to set up and use.
- can limit placement with the molle/ Pals set up which sucked for a small individual like me I have to tweak my belt alignment just slightly to get the perfect placement because of how the molle allows it to sit on me. Overall a minor issue.
- leg strap. I have not used yet. It looks good I’m not sure how I feel about it not being elastic but also I’ve never been a big leg strap guy. I don’t ride my holster low enough because of “PTSD” from an old black hawk drop leg I was issued during a deployment to Iraq which made the firearm flop all over.
Magazine pouches:
I cannot say enough about these!
- rigid enough to allow easy reholstering but also flexible enough to to flatten out and not rub or be uncomfortable or in the way.
- I run a Glock 19 with 17 round mags and while I love the bungee retention option. But I’ve been able to run and jump fences and I loved that I didn’t yard sale my stuff without them. So while they’re a nice option the holders have great retention without the bungees
- the pistol mags are close together which did make drawing them a bit tougher because of my short sausage fingers but once I got used to it it wasn’t bad.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with the quality/ usability and durability of the product. They also shipped extremely fast which is a plus. The only tweaks I wish is that they offered an option to have the inner belt be loop rather than hook. For the mag pouches I’d gap the pistol magazine holder a bit. The MHA is not within their control and is so minor I wouldn’t even bother to mention it other than it could affect other people as well. The only other negative I could really say is the price. In my opinion the bundle is pricey but that’s because I’m just a “poor/cheap police officer” but I also believe you should be willing to pay for great quality and this was definitely worth it. So I guess as the saying goes Buy Once Cry Once. Great product hopefully you guys continue to develop more stuff.
Quality material, quality product. Would recommend for any serious shooter.
Huge fan of your products... went through a bunch of customs checks to have your product but its worth it! Amazing belt.
